The Miami Dolphins-a professional American football team located in Miami, Florida Metropolitan Area. Presently, the Dolphins are members of the Eastern Division of the American Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Dolphins started playing in the American Football League as an expansion team in 1966, and connected the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL Merger.The Miami Dolphin's debut in its first Super Bowl following the 1971 season in Super Bowl VI, unfortunately they lost to Dallas Cowboys. "The dolphin is one of the fastest and smartest creatures of the sea," Joe Robbie said in announcing the team name on October 8, 1965. "Dolphins can attack and kill a shark or a whale. There was a contest held to discover the name of the new Miami franchise for the American Football League in 1965. 19,843 Entries submitted surpassed 19,843 notes suggesting more than thousand different names. After screening a dozen finalists were chosen by a seven-member committee made up of the local media, names thought included the Mariners, Marauders, Mustangs, Missiles, Moons, Sharks, and Suns. But finally the winning name, "Dolphins," was suggested by 622 entrants. Lucky Mrs. Roberta Swanson of West Miami was successful in winning lifetime passes to Dolphin games as her nickname entry successfully prophesized the winner and score of the 1965 football game between Notre Dame and the University of Miami, it was a scoreless tie.Just about few minor changes over the years, the logo and uniforms of the team fundamentally remained the same. The logo is a dolphin wearing a helmet jumping in front of an orange sunburst. Whereas the uniform design involves white helmets, orange trim, and either

white or aqua green jerseys. Dolphins also sometimes wear either white or aqua green pants.On the team's logo debuted that was in 1966, the head of the dolphin was positioned near the center of the sunburst. Earlier to Saban's advent, the team conventionally wore all-white at home moreover aqua pants with white jerseys on the road under former coach Dave Wannstedt. The Dolphins have worn an all-aqua combination for prime-time games only on two particular events, that is defeating the Chicago Bears in 2002 and the Cleveland Browns in 2004.
